Meet the BCT Committee:

Jen Ford – Committee Chair
I am a Consultant Physiotherapist and the Therapy Lead for the Bath Centre for Pain Services & the Paediatric Pain Clinic. I am passionate about raising awareness of chronic pain and the impact it has on people’s lives. I believe that collaborative working with patients and families is essential.

Adam Coley
I'm Adam, a health and fitness professional by background and a proud father to Emmie. Since her CRPS diagnosis following a 2022 road traffic accident, I’ve become deeply passionate about improving the lives of children and young people with chronic pain. I strongly believe in the power of early intervention and holistic care and am committed to exploring effective ways to support children and their families.

Chantal Wellavize
I run two businesses in Lincolnshire (HR / business consultancy and online/high street equestrian retail). When I'm not working, I'm usually out with my horses or singing/playing guitar at open mics. I am also mum to 20yo James, who lives with FND and chronic pain, and attended Bath Pain Clinic with him in 2023. Since then, James's life has improved immeasurably, so I am grateful for the opportunity to give something back to Bath Pain Clinic and hopefully help others in similar situations.

Heather Eastman
I joined the BCT group after my daughter and I attended the 3-week adolescent program in October 2022. The experience changed our lives and enabled us to live rather than exist. I am so grateful for the whole team for the support and opportunity that the experience gave us; therefore, I am passionate about contributing to the BCT and supporting where I can.

Jeremy Gauntlett-Gilbert
I have been involved in treating adults and children with chronic pain for more than 20 years! I am a Consultant Psychologist at BCPS, and also the Research Lead – I hope to advance our clinical understanding of chronic pain and to support a brilliant, compassionate clinical team.

Libby Eastman
Hi, I have had chronic pain for four years and attended an adolescent programme at Bath in 2022. I was 14 and was really struggling with daily activities and school attendance. With lots of work and the incredible support of the team at BCPS, my life improved drastically, I was able to ice skate again - which was my passion for years before I developed chronic pain. Because of just how much of my life BCPS has given back to me, I wanted to be involved in something that would be able to improve the already amazing services that this hospital provides, and help as many people as possible, which is why I joined the BCT group.

Mairéad Horan
Hi, my name is Mairéad. I am one of the Specialist Clinical Psychologists in the BCPS Team. I am delighted to be part of the first ever Co-production Team here at BCPS. I am passionate about our services user’s being involved and having a voice in all aspects of their care. This was something I first learned about during my Doctorate Training at the University of Bath. I am pleased to have the opportunity to take these ideas forwards into my qualified career. I believe this paves the way for a better and brighter future for our service here at BCPS and the NHS more broadly.

Malcolm Allen
I attended the course in November of 2023, although the whole situation was very new to me, as it would be most people at the end of it, I came away with the tools that help me to deal with my pain on a day-to-day basis. There is no miracle cure for the pain suffered by some people that is why this course exists and I believe that everything needs to be done to support and expand this service to as many people as possible.

Nick Richardson
Originally from the Northeast, I served for over 20 years as a Logistics Officer in the Royal Navy. I have both chronic neuropathic pain as well as degenerative osteoarthritis, both because of two separate injuries that I sustained in service. As a result of these injuries, I was medically discharged from the armed forces in 2012 – Since this time my condition has worsened and coming to terms with this has been extremely challenging. i fully understands the stress that living with chronic pain places on all elements of life, and the wide-ranging impact this can have on myself and others.
However, after excellent treatment from the NHS at the Bath Centre for Pain Services, along with the excellent support that I received from several leading military charities (Help for Heroes and BLESMA), I have been able to come to terms with my injuries. I now live in Wiltshire, I am married, with two grown up children. i enjoy watching both Bath and England play rugby and have a keen interest in military and industrial history.

Risa Darcy
Hi, my name is Risa and I had CRPS in my left knee when I was 16. I am now in remission and at university as a medical student so have joined BCT to try and help others get their life back too.

Sophie Park
